This author makes a very good point.

What has happened over the last 30 years is the religious right has perverted the Bible to fit its narrow view of what Christians should pay attention to. Abortion and homosexuality. Nothing else matters.

Several of the fundamentalists here on Newsvine seem to have the same attitude.  I've asked some of them why they are so focused on sex, and seem to completely ignore the rest of the Bible.  One of them claimed that sexual sins are the worst (despite the bible saying that all sins are equal), but most don't go that far.  I just don't understand this viewpoint.
